Phlebotomy is derived from the Greek words "phlebo" and "tomy".The word phlebo is the root word and it relates to a VEIN, while the word tomy is a suffix that means cutting or incision. Both words are joined by the vowel " o"  to make it easy to pronounce. Phlebotomy therefore means making an Incision or cutting into a vein.

Who is a Phlebotomist?
A Phlebotomist is a blood collector or an individual who performs phlebotomy.

Where can a Phlebotomist get a Job?
In broad terms, there are many job sites for a Phlebotomist. A phlebotomist can work  either in a hospital setting or in  an ambulatory setting. A Hospital setting is thesame as an In-Patient setting. The Ambulatory setting is referring to the Out Patient setting.
